The Process of Inner Healing and Transformation
The following series of imageries on the process of inner healing and transformation came to me during a particularly fruitful meditation session. I shall first describe what I visualized and subsequently decipher the imageries.
In the first image, I see myself standing in front of a tall brick wall, and because of its opacity, I cannot discern what lies behind this wall.
The next moment, the brick wall transforms into a mirror, and my reflection appears in it. I gaze into my own eyes.
The mirror becomes more transparent, and finally transforms into a clear glass panel. Now, I can finally clearly see what lies on the other side. To my surprise, it is an image of myself! However, there is something different about the “me” on the other side. She has an aura of serenity and wisdom. In that instant, I realized that she is my Higher Self (spiritual self).
Finally, the glass shatters and the two of us begin to move towards each other. The scene ends as we merge together to form One.
The images ceased and I concluded my meditation session. I opened my eyes and realized that what I had visualized was the metaphorical process of spiritual healing and transformation to merge with our higher spiritual selves.
In the beginning, we know nothing of ourselves, and seek to discover our identities and purpose in this lifetime. As such, it appears as if we are facing a brick wall, with the answers to our quest blocked out by the opacity of our conscious minds which are subsequently filled with our worries, anxieties, fears, doubts, pains and other mental and emotional blockages enhancing the opacity of this wall.
Through meditation and other inner healing modalities, we start to connect with our spiritual source, and become increasingly conscious that we are not merely our bodies or our intellects, but are in fact, "spiritual beings having a human experience" (quoted from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin). As we gain awareness of our divine nature, build the courage to face our challenges and issues head on, the brick wall transforms into a mirror, and we see ourselves truthfully for the first time, our hidden wounds and fears finally revealed, and therefore ready to start our inner healing process.
Through accessing our own inner resources that lie within our subconscious and superconscious mind, we heal and awaken. As we do so, the mirror transforms into a glass panel, and just beyond this barrier between our physical world and spiritual home, we see and connect with each of our Higher Self.
The glass barrier shatters when the state of enlightenment or reunion occurs, and we finally merge with our Higher Self.
To resolve present sufferings and issues, we must first have the courage and will to uncover and acknowledge them - to transform the opacity of our conscious minds to clarity (brick wall to mirror), As we seek to find deeper meaning behind our issues, we connect with our spiritual self (mirror to glass), and he/she will guide us towards discovering the themes and lessons of our lives and current life purpose, enabling us to move forward in our present with peace, clarity, acceptance and to live and fulfill our life of higher purpose.
